Where we started

The Dione Project involved the construction of a maisonette (two storey detached house) made “sur mesure” for the needs of a young couple and their future family. The plot was rather small and it was a challenge creating enough space for a little garden, a parking area to facilitate 2 cars and a veranda spacious enough for family gatherings. Our goal was to create a modern aesthetics house that would have enough spaces to serve the owners’ way of living.

The Project

Entrance, living room, kitchen, office and bathroom occupied the ground level while on the first level two bedrooms and a master bathroom found their space. The office was placed near the entrance as future plans involved working from home and occasionally receiving clients.

Wide openings, glass instead of railings on balconies, cubic shapes and a fresh palette of earthy colors were used to underline the style. Underfloor heating/cooling system was installed which allows for indoor climate control. A solution chosen in order to keep the minimalistic character of the house but also to save space.

Two levels were created to achieve maximum exploitation of the area.A concrete fence to protect the family’s privacy was built and embellished by a row of high plants along its length from the inner side. The result is a sense of rich flora when looking from the inside of the house and a high fence protection when looking from the road.
