ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT

Located in coastal Peloponnese, this residence stands within a typically Mediterranean landscape yet originally lacked a clear architectural identity. Although the exterior evoked the familiar imagery of a Greek island house — whitewashed walls and light blue window frames — its overall language felt inconsistent and disconnected from the authentic vernacular tradition.

TECHNICAL INTERVENTION

The renovation project sought to restore coherence, spatial clarity, and architectural integrity, balancing respect for the existing structure with a refined contemporary reinterpretation. Without altering the primary volume, the intervention introduced a new luminous veranda, conceived as a transitional threshold between interior and exterior. This space functions as a protected yet light-filled environment, designed to be enjoyed throughout the year while maintaining visual continuity with the surroundings.

SPATIAL PROGRAM
Two-level residence reorganized for contemporary holiday living

The house unfolds over two levels. On the ground floor, the living area integrates kitchen and lounge in a fluid spatial configuration, accompanied by a small guest bathroom. The redesign focused on improving proportions, circulation, and the overall sense of openness, allowing natural light to enhance the daily living experience.

UPPER LEVEL & FUNCTIONALITY

Upstairs, a complete reorganization of the layout made it possible to introduce an additional bathroom, significantly improving functionality. The new configuration now accommodates four bedrooms and three bathrooms, all thoughtfully redesigned to reflect the needs of a contemporary holiday home in Greece.

MATERIALITY & INTEGRATION
Neutral palette, natural textures, and restored Mediterranean character

Materiality and color play a central role in redefining the character of the house. A neutral palette, composed of warm tones and natural textures, was selected to enhance light and volume without relying on decorative excess. The result is an atmosphere that feels both elegant and relaxed — aligned with the idea of slow living and seasonal retreat.
